This book was recommended to me by a follower on Twitter and, I’ve gotta say, it was an excellent pick.
That being said, the book could be a bit saccharine at times. I was also a bit put off by the overuse of coincidences, the uncle saving Katerina, Katerina’s husband dying when she discovers she’s pregnant, Dimitri returning. I felt that the author could have done a better job getting the characters to where they needed to be without coincidentally killing off Katerina’s husband, for example.
I had an internal debate after reading the book about whether or not the first chapter should have been the concluding chapter instead. I think it may have been better as a conclusion, rather than an introduction.
