The Night Circus by Erin Morgenstern is a really fantastic work of fantasy. I’ve heard the book compared to both the Harry Potter books and the Twilight series, and it’s neither. This book has both a plot and character development!
Sparkly-vampire bashing aside, Morgenstern creates a spectacular world with an circus that performs only at night and a competition between two unwitting children. Although what they are competing for and over becomes clear only in the second half of the book, getting there is a magical journey.
When you first start The Night Circus, you want the author to answer what, exactly, is going on. Once that is discovered, you desperately want to know how the situation is resolved. I read the book in one sitting because I was so enthralled with the story.
