Food For Thought – Buttermilk Pancakes

I had leftover buttermilk from making biscuits on Thanksgiving and was looking for a way to use it up. I’ve never made pancakes from scratch before (only from a mix). I actually thought, for some reason, they were going to be crazy complicated, but this was super easy. No more mixes for me.


  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 3 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 3 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons baking soda
  • 3/4 teaspoon salt
  • 3 1/2 cups buttermilk
  • 3 eggs
  • 1/3 cup butter, melted


In one bowl, combine dry ingredients. In another bowl, combine wet ones.

Grease your griddle and heat to 350 degrees. When griddles is ready, blend wet and dry ingredients. Do not over stir!

Pour approximately 1/4 to 1/2 cup of batter onto griddles and cook until slightly brown.
