“Life is easier than you’d think; all that is necessary is to accept the impossible, do without the indispensable, and bear the intolerable.” -Kathleen Norris
There are a lot of things in the world that piss me off. There are a lot of ideas people espouse that I think are completely lacking in merit. But there aren’t very many things that I simply won’t tolerate from people. When people advocate these positions, I throw all levels of polite discourse right out the window and instead, I just try to make the person advocating them cry like a baby who just had their pacifier stolen.
Homosexuality is a sin and/or “fixable.”
The Earth is flat.
Evolution is a myth.
Dog fighting is acceptable.
Men who say “I’d love it if women hit on me all the time.”
(This last one refers to men dismissing women’s complaints about frequent sexual harassment by contending that they would love it if women hit on them all the time. It completely disregards the inherent power differential between men and women.)
Other than those, I’m pretty much willing to have an honest dialogue about the merits of the argument.
